Here are a few ideas to think
about when choosing your clothes.
- Avoid busy patterns and loud colors. Your face should
be the focal point.
- Some poses will show your shoes, so match shoes and
socks with your outfit.
- Avoid green for outdoor portraits. Earth tones look
best.
- Middle to dark colors work well
for formal portraits and with darker backgrounds.
- Lighter colors, such as white, off white, and pastels
look better with lighter backgrounds.
- Avoid wearing yellow and orange as they distract from
your face.
- For Senior graduation portraits, be sure at least one
outfit says fun. Bring a few extra outfits so that the
photographer can help you choose.
- Best to avoid new hair styles just before your portrait
session. If hair needs to be trimmed, do so about a week
before.
- For family portraits and adults, long sleeve solid
color shirts are usually more flattering.
- For family portraits, one or two main solid colors
with each family member wearing shades of those colors
look best.
